Among the most significant achievements of Andrew Demetriou is accomplishing a TV rights deal in 2005 that amounted to record-breaking amount of A$780 million. Moreover, he is well-known for getting an outstanding 1.25 billion dollars bargain for TV rights during the year 2012 to 2016. The agreement consisted of live TV scope of the Australian Football League in every state of Australia, by free-to-air, membership.
Demetriou is also known for bringing major changes in the working environment and structure of the organizations he has been leading; during his time as the CEO of AFL.

Andrew Demetriou is one of the best-known Australian businessman, who was also an Australian football player and an influential sports administrator. Up to June 2014, he also provided his services in the Australian Football League (AFL) as the chief executive officer. He was born on 14 April 1961 to Greek Cypriot immigrants parents and is currently an Australian citizen. As far as his education is concerned, in 1983, he was able to complete his Bachelor of Arts, and later in 1983, he got his degree in education. In his personal life, Demetriou married twice. His first wife died in 1999. What followed next was his second marriage in 2002 with Symone, who is currently his wife. They have three daughters and a son.
Initially, Andrew Demetriou worked in the industry of dental imports. Andrew Demetriou initiated his professional career in the field of football by getting a part by North Melbourne in Pascoe Vale; later in 1981, he made his way to better opportunities and got a chance of doing his VFL debut. From this period to 1987, Andrew was able to make 47 goals from 103 senior games that he played for Kangas. What followed next in his life was hard work and perseverance: he made the most out of the opportunities he received and, in doing so, made his game as strong as possible. He was able to be part of Hawthorn in 1988 when he was at its best and produced the best results on the wing. In his new role, he played a final three games kinking on goal.

He then also provided his services in the Australian Football League (AFL) as the chief executive officer from September 2003 till June 2014. Demetriou was finalized for the authoritative post in thedirectors’ board roughlyduring the year 2003. He was handed over the post by Wayne Jackson, who served AFL from the period of 1998 to 2000 he has been Chief Executive of the AFL Players’ Association. Later, from 2000 to 2003, he held the post of General Manager AFL Football Operations.
